having some kinda conversation with reuben sparked off my thoughts. well, the whole conversation was basically on how being girly means the end of manhood for guys and chauvinism. but it made me think abt feminists.

what do feminists really want? equal rights? in my book, there's no such thing as equality between men and women. before i get stoned to death for such a blasphemous comment, let me say that i do advocate for BETTER rights for women. but equality? give it up.

the reason i dont believe equality can be achieved is because men and women are different. and no one can deny, differences can NEVER be valued in the same way (this does not only apply to gender: race, age, class background).

women are definitely better off now than before, but believe me, they are a far way from being equal. try challenging me on this and you'll get me spouting all sorts of examples from my sociology textbook.

okay on to the main point: feminists.

so let's say, a new french restaurant opens, and the feminists has visions of going there with her boyfriend so she told him, "you'll have to take me there one day". now here's the thing, don't feminists object to the idea of being 'taken' anywhere? it sounds like the female is packed into a briefcase and carried to the restaurant.

there are many third-wavers (the third wave of feminists) who cherry-pick their battles. they say NO to Howard Stern and derogatory terms, but YES to depilation and miniskirts. Many are no longer walking the feminist walk in their kitten heels, especially where romance is concerned. probably because most women have always wanted to be "treated like a lady": given gifts and compliments, 'whisked' away for romantic weekends.

this is where you normally hear women complain abt how frayed the "gentlemen" they dated left them. E.g. Mr. Whisk-Me-Away was whisking someone else on alternate weekends. makes you wonder how someone could treat them as anyone other than themselves: a lady and a fool.

life with feminists comes with frustrations. they fish for compliments about their appearances, but they object to the female-objectification pile-on. they crave reassurance when they gained weight, but is it the size of their ass bothering them or the pressure to be thin (which feminists supposedly objects to).

yes, you can surely tell, i'm no feminist.
