my prof showed us this video while in psych class today on the Bystander Effect where, when you're in a group or in public, common sense is gone and most ppl assumes someone else will step up to do something that they should have done.
1) the guy with his kid just walked by as though nothing happened. fuck, the girl sruggling could easily have been his kid.
2) the old couple actually swerved around them, clearly seeing what was happening and avoided the whole situation. and i actually thought they were the ones who would have helped.
i'm pretty disturbed by what is proven here. and so as to not spoil the ending for you guys, let's just say tt the ppl who do help, are the least unlikely ones.
i feel like ranting more, but i shall be kind and spare u guys my anger. im really upset with the video of the small girl.
here's a second video on the Bystander effect which i find amusing. there's no sound in this video so don't bother turning up the speakers' volume. participants in this survey were just told to sit and the room and complete the form, without knowing th true purpose of the experiment, which was to see how they would react alone or in a group. oh and in the video, 'confederates' means the other actors in the experiment who were paid to pretend to be participants in the survey.
they actually had to go in and get the woman to leave because she would have suffocated if she remained in there (which she clearly would).
